1. How does using protocols like “critical
friends” help teachers become more reflective of their teaching practices? This
protocol enables teachers to listen and take in feedback, lowers defenses
2. What conditions are required for teachers
to make use of this protocol? Time, knowing their students, creating a safe,
respectful environment
3. How could this protocol be used with
students? before any type of final product is published or finalized
4. Identify two specific protocols you will
embed in your PBL unit. Consider
protocols for teacher-student or student-teacher feedback as well as
student-student feedback. I plan to use Critical Friends in my unit for
elevator pitches and public service announcements. Consensus protocol will be
used during the picnic activity to allow individual students to be heard within
their group.
Hi Taylor,
ReplyDeleteI agree with you that the critical friends protocol provides teachers with the opportunity to receive and give feedback in a positive, low stress format. I am glad that you are planning on using this protocol in your unit for their elevator pitches and public service announcements.
Sincerely,
Dawn
You're right, a safe, judgment free, and respectful environment would be crucial to implementing critical friends with students. I like that it gives you extra eyes to see what you may need to add, or take out. Great Job!!!
