  2. Hi Scott,
I love how you used a video to record your reflection. Your "Come bow before me..." example of traditional instruction and how that worked when students were interested in the topic and wanted to come and learn. This is similar to an apprentice model in Socrates' Day or in Early American history, a young person learned from a master teacher in their chosen field. You are right, in today's profession we have to entice students to learn and make sure that our instruction fuels their application. In an apprenticeship model - the master shows/instructs, the pupil applies/demonstrates. Many times in our classrooms there is only recall and the opportunity to apply in meaningful ways is lacking. I am thankful that your unit provides students a real world context in ways that fuels students' interest and sustained inquiry and engagement throughout. I am looking forward to seeing what your students do with their "puke project." I know they will learn as much from the trial as they will from the analysis of the evidence.
